About My Love for Makeup

Hello Beauties

I want to get into something more personal today.
I have noticed that sometimes when people ask me about makeup or talk to me about makeup, I feel almost ashamed to say that I love makeup. I'm honestly not sure why, but I want to talk to you today about why it's okay to love makeup.

I started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube a few years ago and I was so inspired. I started buying different kinds of makeup and testing out techniques I had never tried before.
It was love at first sight.. ;)

I began to make it a daily habit to watch at least one YouTube video a day, because I was becoming quite addicted. The makeup community is so fun and exciting. I love being unique and testing out new methods and products. I also have loved dedicating a blog to beauty. I have met so many amazing people through here, Instagram, and Twitter who share the same love of makeup. People have been so supportive. I have been able to really connect with people who share this similar interest, and they're incredible. I love seeing other people's work and sharing tips and tricks. Thank you all!

Back on the subject here..  I have found that I can be embarrassed to talk about the fact that I love makeup with some people.
Ladies and gentlemen, you should not be ashamed to express your love of makeup.
I don't wear it because I am covering up what I think is ugly, I don't wear it because I want to impress boys or friends, I wear makeup for ME. I feel perfectly comfortable with myself and my inner beauty that I don't need to use makeup as a way of making myself more secure. I still feel fine not wearing any makeup, I just prefer to. I still love the person that I am when the makeup comes off.

I wear makeup because it gives me more confidence and allows me to express myself. It makes me feel good on the inside and on the outside.
I do not think there is anything wrong with wearing no makeup or minimal makeup. I won't judge you because you don't love makeup or because you don't wear makeup. I won't judge you if you want to wear full face glam to the pool or on a daily basis. YOU DO YOU.

I don't want to feel ashamed anymore to say that I love makeup. I don't want to feel embarrassed for wearing false lashes everywhere I go. I don't want to feel embarrassed when I want to rock a teal eyeshadow or graphic winged liner on a typical day. I don't want to feel embarrassed for contouring my face or highlighting so the gods above can see that glow.

There is nothing wrong with loving makeup. Cake that shi* on if you want, or don't wear any, it's YOUR choice.

I find makeup to be fun and exciting. I try a new look every single day. Some days I don't wear any makeup and some days I wear just a little. I feel it's a way to express myself. I love feeling glam and unique. I shouldn't have to feel ashamed to say that what I like to do in my spare time is play around with different makeup looks. It's a great way to distract myself from problems or stress.

I'm not trying to be the girl with the most makeup or the best makeup, I just want to have fun with it. It doesn't matter whether it's drugstore or high end. It doesn't matter if I spend $100 or $1.00 it's all great.

In my mind, makeup is an art form. It takes a lot of practice and patience. Us ladies have a special talent because you can be sure that it is not easy to apply makeup. It's all about symmetry and angles, contouring and sculpting. It's about figuring out what's right for your skin type, skin tone, eye shape, hair color, eye color, eye shape, etc. It's no question as to why they are called "makeup artists."

This brings up another point: Just because you went to school for makeup doesn't necessarily make you "better" than those who have taught themselves. Plenty of the YouTubers I watch are self taught and their work is just as amazing as anyone who went to school for makeup. Don't be ashamed to call yourself a "self-taught" makeup artist. It doesn't make you any less than a makeup artist.

So, whether you are a boy or girl, or 100 years old, don't feel ashamed to express yourself through a love of makeup. There is beauty in simplicity and there is beauty in the extravagant. Show 'em what you got.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation Review

This post is really overdue since I've had this foundation for a little over 3 months! My skin type is combination oily. At times I get really dry spots on my skin, but for the most part my skin is oily.
This foundation is available at Ulta and Sephora. I bought the shades "Light Beige" and "Medium Beige" for my tan days. The cost is more high end, at $39.
PROS
Coverage (some spots may still show through.. but it's preeettyy full coverage)
Consistency
Amount of Product
Long-wearing
Packaging (Easy to use/good for travel)
Cruelty-free Brand
Selection of shades
Dries matte
Perfect for oily skin

CONS
Can settle in fine lines and large pores (most foundations do this on my anyway)
Can look cakey if too much is applied
Clings to dry patches (may not be the best for dry skin types)
I truly love this foundation. It applies really well to my skin and stays on all day. For me it lasts even longer than 12-hours. I use a translucent setting powder to set it since I am extra oily. I use the Morphe Brushes M439 to apply with MAC Fix+

Aloe Vera Water Detox Review

Hey guys!

I hope you all have a Happy 4th!
I wanted to do a health related post because I haven't done one in a while ;)

I'm about to talk about something that tastes great, supports immune system, aids in digestion and weight loss, lowers cholesterol, detoxes, reduces inflammation, and much more.
This stuff is awesome.
Not all benefits have been scientifically proven. If you're concerned about drinking aloe vera water do your research and talk to your doctor :)

For me, I reach for this when I am feeling gross, like I need to remove some toxins from my body, when in feeling bloated or.. yes.. My digestive system isn't working as it should.
Let's just say you want to be near a bathroom when drinking this stuff.
It can help with constipation, hydration, vitamin and mineral intake, healthy gums, healthy skin, and hair growth as well.
Information from:  http://skinnywithfiber.org/14-really-important-health-benefits-of-aloe-vera-juice/

This particular brand is available on the Boxed website.

You get a pack of 12 drinks for $15.99. They are sweetened with honey, pure cane sugar and natural grape flavor. They contain aloe vera pulp, and taste really good.

The pulp can be hard to get by at first because it's like drinking slimy chunks.. But once I got used to them I would just chew them because they really don't taste bad.

I highly recommend this for all of you who want to just try something new and good for you. This is especially good for those of us with digestive issues like me!

Thanks for stopping by :) Give this a try and let me know what you think!
