Makeup Geek Duochromes Review & Swatches

Makeup Geek Duochromes launched last week! Of course I had to get my hands on some of them.
If you don't already know, Makeup Geek is one of my favorite brands considering their amazing quality and prices!
This line of shadows and pigments are called duochromes because they reflect two different colors, some of them reflect even more.
I purchased 3 pigments and 6 single shadows.
Pigments $12              Eyeshadows $6
Scroll to bottom for review

I'll start with my FAVORITE pigment, Hologram! Yes, it has a crack in it :( I'm not sure when it happened but I am hoping it won't completely break open!
"Orangey-pink base with green and gold reflects"
**Update: I emailed Makeup Geek Customer Service and they will be sending me an empty replacement jar when they receive the new and improved ones. They have great customer service!

Next is Sugar Rush. I was stunned when I swatched this one.. You will see!
"Translucent base with icy blue and purple reflects"
This is Chameleon. Teal is my favorite color :)
"Deep teal base with gold reflects"
Cue the music. Aren't they stunning?! I own two other Makeup Geek Pigments and I can tell you, they are all so beautiful. Not only that but pigments will last a very long time. It only take a tiny amount of the pigment for it to show up like this!
I have to own the rest of these..

"Vanilla base with champagne-yellow reflects"

"Apricot base with orchid reflects"

"Electric purple base with icy blue reflects"

"Deep espresso base with bright teal reflects"

"Deep teal base with green and gold reflects"

"Warm red-brown base with teal reflects"

Pictures above were taken in natural lighting, no primer!

Picture above taken with the flash on! So majestic...

Dr. Bronners Soap: Magical Makeup Brush Cleaner

Happy Saturday!
Okay, I just cleaned my brushes today using this Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soap and I was amazed. A while back, Samantha from Batalash recommended this as a makeup brush cleaner. When I saw it in Fred Meyer I HAD to get some!
The price is just $3-5 for 5 oz.

There are 8 scents available- peppermint, almond, unscented, citrus, eucalyptus, lavender, rose, and tea tree.

My makeup brushes haven't been this clean in months! It took me half the time it normally does to clean all of them. This soap is very effective.. It easily removes makeup from brushes. Plus it smells great! This soap is also great for cleaning your makeup sponges. I used it to clean my Beauty Blender!
I did use a shampoo afterward to soften the brush hairs because they kind of had that sticky soap feeling.

I just wet the brush and ran over soap in circular motions a few times, then rinsed.

This soap is made with organic oils and is certified fair trade.

Look how white, clean, & fluffy they are!!
So, there you have it. I was so excited I immediately had to blog about it and tell all of you :)
Next time I clean my brushes I will try to have someone film the magic.

Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation Review

I've been wanting to do this blog post for so long now and just haven't had the time. I've been using the L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation for months now. This is my ABSOLUTE favorite foundation thus far. Beyond any high-end foundation I've tried, this truly stays on my face and doesn't break up throughout the day. I have pretty oily skin with some acne scarring. The cost is around $12-13 at Ulta and WalMart.
PROS:
Coverage- medium but buildable
Long wearing (my days start at 6am and end at 11pm, wears well all day)
Doesn't break up
Finish- matte without looking too flat
Oil control
Price
Quantity
Availability of shades
Packaging (nice for travel/ tubes are more sanitary)

CONS:
Applies best with Beauty Blender for me
Can look cakey if you apply too much
Can look streaky when applied with a brush
Price for drugstore (it's worth every penny..)

There you have it :) I would definitely recommend this foundation. Here is a photo of me wearing it.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation Review

This post is really overdue since I've had this foundation for a little over 3 months! My skin type is combination oily. At times I get really dry spots on my skin, but for the most part my skin is oily.
This foundation is available at Ulta and Sephora. I bought the shades "Light Beige" and "Medium Beige" for my tan days. The cost is more high end, at $39.
PROS
Coverage (some spots may still show through.. but it's preeettyy full coverage)
Consistency
Amount of Product
Long-wearing
Packaging (Easy to use/good for travel)
Cruelty-free Brand
Selection of shades
Dries matte
Perfect for oily skin

CONS
Can settle in fine lines and large pores (most foundations do this on my anyway)
Can look cakey if too much is applied
Clings to dry patches (may not be the best for dry skin types)
I truly love this foundation. It applies really well to my skin and stays on all day. For me it lasts even longer than 12-hours. I use a translucent setting powder to set it since I am extra oily. I use the Morphe Brushes M439 to apply with MAC Fix+

Aloe Vera Water Detox Review

Hey guys!

I hope you all have a Happy 4th!
I wanted to do a health related post because I haven't done one in a while ;)

I'm about to talk about something that tastes great, supports immune system, aids in digestion and weight loss, lowers cholesterol, detoxes, reduces inflammation, and much more.
This stuff is awesome.
Not all benefits have been scientifically proven. If you're concerned about drinking aloe vera water do your research and talk to your doctor :)

For me, I reach for this when I am feeling gross, like I need to remove some toxins from my body, when in feeling bloated or.. yes.. My digestive system isn't working as it should.
Let's just say you want to be near a bathroom when drinking this stuff.
It can help with constipation, hydration, vitamin and mineral intake, healthy gums, healthy skin, and hair growth as well.
Information from:  http://skinnywithfiber.org/14-really-important-health-benefits-of-aloe-vera-juice/
http://alodrink.com/product-lines/original/exposed
This particular brand is available on the Boxed website.

You get a pack of 12 drinks for $15.99. They are sweetened with honey, pure cane sugar and natural grape flavor. They contain aloe vera pulp, and taste really good.

The pulp can be hard to get by at first because it's like drinking slimy chunks.. But once I got used to them I would just chew them because they really don't taste bad.

I highly recommend this for all of you who want to just try something new and good for you. This is especially good for those of us with digestive issues like me!

Thanks for stopping by :) Give this a try and let me know what you think!

Batalash x SauceBox Palette Review & Swatches

Hey beauties
This week I received my Batalash x SauceBox eyeshadow palette after pre-ordering. FINALLY!
I've been dying to get this in the mail. I am a huge fan of the Batalash girls. Ssssamanthaa is my new bff, basically.

It was love at first sight.
Here it is in all its glory. Isn't the packaging so pretty?
I can't wait to create more looks with this!
This palette comes with 8 huge pans of gorgeous color at a cost of $60.00
The top four shades are all matte/neutral shades:

The bottom four shades are all shimmer/pops of color:
All of the colors are very pigmented, some more than others.
PROS:
Pigmentation
Packaging is sturdy/travel friendly and gorgeous
Product size/amount
Color selection
Removable pans
Cost
Easy to blend
Supporting a bad A group of girls

CONS:
Shipping delays
Pans do not have their names on the bottom
Limited edition

Here is a look I created using the palette inspired by Ssssamanthaa :) I used Vanilla, Winter Brown, Cinnamon, and Nova.
I also used NYX Retractable Liner in Gypsy Blue and Anastasia Beverly Hills Pink Champagne Eyeshadow. Lashes are Velour Lashes "It's Sho Fluffly."
Here is another look I created using Vanilla, Winter Brown, Cinnamon, Enigma, and Lace Noir.

Overall, I am so impressed with this palette. I would definitely purchase from SauceBox Cosmetics again, despite the shipping delays. They are still a small business and growing fast.
